...it probably is a duck.

Our itinerary had us going to Cleveland, TX. today. Chris put that in the GPS and discovered it was less than 100 miles away, when the itinerary had it being 180 miles. Consulting our road atlas, Chris dicovered that there is a town of Lake Arthur in Louisiana and he had confused this with Port Arthur in Texas. (Doh! Doh! Doh!). Lake Arthur was where we should have been last night. Mystery solved!
Pampus grass is used as a fence line in some areas.

There are a few small farms with cows. We seem to have left the sugar cane area we were travelling through in the last few days.
Road "alligators" are common.

The upside to all this was that we didn't have as far to travel today or tomorrow as we had planned.

We left our motel in Beaumont and headed west on Texas 105. This route was chosen to bypass Houston to the north.

As we started out the land was very flat and mostly cleared for farming. For much of the way the road was one lane each way, but had a speed limit of 60, 65 and 70 for much of the way, so it was not surprising that we reached Cleveland before lunch.

We stopped in the Plantation Diner for brunch and decided to push on to Navasota. Along the way we stopped for drinks at a service station in Plantersville. People take pride in their animals.

It was early afternoon when we reached Navasota. We found the Vanguard Motel and Chris caught up with the last few days blogging while Wanda took a swim in the pool. We both enjoyed the rest after yesterday's long ride.
