Goofing Off

Today we slept in. Over breakfast Chris and Richard looked at our itinerary for the next two days. Chris had planned heading north, making a loop around/through the mountains along the Cache le Poudre Valley and riding through the Rocky Mountains National Park a second time in order to iride the Peak to Peak Highway (as the name suggests, a very scenic route) from north to south.

After a little discussion, Chris realised we could ride out of Boulder, Colorado, pick up the Peak to Peak Highway a little way north of its southern end and take this route north to le Poudre River. This saves a whole day and meant we could stay longer with Richard and Mariannne.

With that resolved Richard drove us all into the Denver Art Museum to see the King Tutenkhamun exhibition. This was a well presented exhibition of antiquities from Egypt with many objects related to Tut or found in his tomb.

Following this we surrendered to our hunger pangs and ate lunch in the very elegant Museum restaurant

before heading to the permanent collection to take in some of their very fine Western art.

When our thirst for art was sated we headed back "home", stopping briefly to buy dinner and wine.

The Boulder shopping centre near Richard and Marianne's has a colourful display.

It was a generous meal with more than we could eat. We even had a bottle of wine left over...
