How could anything be more dramatic than Colorado?

Our plans for today were to head from Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Moab in Utah. This basically entailed a long ride down I-70 into Utah. A left turn through Cisco, another left to head down UT 128 and a third left onto US191 into Moab. We were not expecting an exciting ride.

The run down I-70 was insane - the limit was 75 mph but everything on the road, including the big trucks, was travelling at 80+.
Note how the mountains in the background dwarfed any buildings or vehicles.

Following the Colorado River valley, the scenery was initially striking, but the further we travelled, the wider the valley became. We found ourselves in gently undulating desert, surrounded by distant mountains.

We took exit 44 and rode the slower side road into Grand Junction where lunch in the Village Inn restaurant met our needs. It was difficult to find a distinctive marker in such a sprawling town.
After feeding the bike, we resumed our mad dash down I-70, soon crossing the border into Utah.

When we turned off I-70, the bumpy little road we found ourselves on ran parallel to it through the ghost town of Cisco. Continuing down UT 128 was pretty much like all the other roads we had been on until...

...our route met up again with the Colorado River.

Suddenly we plunged into a canyon more spectacular than any other we have travelled down. Words fail us: even our photos cannot properly convey the unique grandeur of this place.

We popped our eyeballs back in at the end of the road and turned into Moab where we found a motel close to a supermarket. The motel had a barbeque that we took advantage of when it came to dinner.
